On iPhone and iPad

Apple gives you multiple options to make text bigger. Let's start with the simplest.

Method 1: Text Size Setting

Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Display & Brightness
  3. Tap Text Size
  4. Drag the slider to the right to make text bigger
  5. You'll see a preview above the slider as you adjust

Method 2: Larger Text (Accessibility)

This option makes text even bigger than the standard Text Size setting. Use it if you want more dramatic changes.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Accessibility
  3. Tap Display & Text Size
  4. Tap Larger Accessibility Sizes

You can use both methods together. The Accessibility sizes are even bigger than the standard Text Size setting, so combine them for the most dramatic difference.

Method 3: Display Zoom

This makes everything on your screen bigger—not just text. Icons, buttons, and images all get larger too.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Accessibility
  3. Tap Display & Text Size
  4. Tap Display Zoom
  5. Select Zoomed (larger option)
  6. Tap Set at the bottom
  7. Your device will restart to apply the change

On Android Phones and Tablets

Android makes text adjustments straightforward too. The steps are similar across most devices, though some brands (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) may have slightly different names.

Changing Font Size

Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Display (or Display & Brightness)
  3. Tap Font Size (or Text Size)
  4. Drag the slider to the right to make text bigger
  5. You'll see a preview of your choice

Display Size (Makes Everything Bigger)

If you want everything enlarged—not just text—use the Display Size setting.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Display
  3. Look for Display Size or Screen Zoom
  4. Move the slider to the right
  5. Select your preferred size and tap Apply

Note: If you don't see these options, your device may use slightly different names. Try searching "text size" or "font size" in your Settings app—the search feature will take you right there.

Zooming In on Web Pages

When you're browsing the web in Safari, Chrome, or another browser, you can temporarily zoom in on a page anytime you need to.

Using Pinch-to-Zoom

  • Place two fingers on the screen and pinch outward (spread your fingers apart) to zoom in
  • Pinch inward (bring your fingers together) to zoom back out
  • This works on any webpage, but the zoom resets when you leave that page

Using Browser Settings

Most browsers let you set a default zoom level so webpages always load bigger.

In Safari (iPhone/iPad):

  1. Go to Settings → Safari
  2. Tap Page Zoom
  3. Select your preferred zoom level

In Chrome (Android/iPhone):

  1. Open Chrome and tap the three-line menu
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Accessibility
  4. Adjust the Text Scaling percentage

Making Text Bigger in Specific Apps

Apps like Gmail, Facebook, and others often have their own text size settings. Here's how to find them.

Gmail

  • iPhone: Tap your profile icon → Settings → find the Gmail app → scroll down to adjust text size
  • Android: Open Gmail → tap your profile icon → Settings → your email address → Text size

Facebook

  • Open Facebook → tap the three-line menu → Settings & Privacy → Settings → scroll to "Display" → Text Size

Other Apps

Most apps include accessibility settings. Look for:

  • Settings within the app (usually in a menu or gear icon)
  • Options labeled "Text Size," "Font Size," "Accessibility," or "Display"
